I agree, Blake. If you’re only going to remember a woman for her looks, and not her personality, don’t be surprised when she ends up being either a)crazy, b) a user, or c)dull and dumb. Actually, this goes for girls looking for guys, too.

Duncan– Fortunately, I met him at a party, and I inserted the info (that I was still residing with my EX-boyfriend, but looking to move out ASAP) into our hour-long conversation. Therefore, he knew before asking for the first date.

Were it the Starbucks scenario, I think it’d be appropriate to accept, then drop the news at Starbucks– a quick coffee isn’t much of an investment of time OR cash. Had the information scared him off he would have wasted only twenty minutes and three bucks, as opposed to the poster’s eight hours, $370, and cruelly-dashed hopes.

This would be a better story if it didn’t include how much everything cost. Obviously the $ *is* very important to the submitter or he wouldn’t have listed the price of EVERYTHING. No one forced him to drop all that cash, but he wants us all to know how he was ‘used’. Lame. He sounds like a douche.

No, she doesn’t “owe” anything, and the poster didn’t expect tit-for-tat “payment” at the end of the night, as demonstrated by the fact that he drove her home, and didn’t drag her back to his man cave.

What he expected, one assumes, was candid behavior on her part– if she’s shacked up with some guy she should have stated that BEFORE accepting the date.

Was she merely using him for a free meal? Was she on the skids with her current beau and ready to bolt? Was she wishing he HAD dragged her back to his man cave? We’ll never know.

When I met my current husband, I was living unhappily with an estranged boyfriend (young and broke and neither of us had the luxury of spur-of-the-moment moves in expensive NYC– this situation lingered for several weeks). But, I let the new guy (who eventually became my husband) know the score before accepting a date, and I moved into a share with a female friend within a couple of weeks.

If nothing else, the poster’s Siberian hussy should have alerted him to the extremely cloudy situation long before the end of the date. The fact that she referred to her room-mate as her “boyfriend” doesn’t speak well of her intentions, though. (My experience with Eastern Europeans is that they don’t exactly share the American mindset when it comes to forthright behavior!)
