Or it could have something to do with the fact that some people can’t handle certain types of alcohol.

I have a friend who has a very strong stomach when it comes to alcohol-except tequila, which makes him vomit. It may have been a case of that. :/

I can’t imagine one margarita doing that to someone. I agree that it sounds like more factors may have been at play. I’m not saying I’d still be swept off my feet by a guy who vomited on the first date, but still…

A WHOLE margarita? I’ve not been to the Mexican restaurant at DisneyWorld, so maybe they serve some mutant giant margaritas or something, but here in the real world, a margarita contains 1-2 ounces of alcohol. That’s not significantly more than a beer or wine cooler. If he could drink a Smirnoff Ice or two, he could tolerate a margarita. The vomiting was likely something else.

So this is my story, so let me answer a few questions:

I am 100% confident that it was the tequila that he decided to chug that made him sick. We had been out before in a group of friends where he has been drunk off of one Smirnoff Ice. Now, I’m a bit of a lightweight myself, but I don’t chug a tequila filled margarita knowing that I can’t handle it. And that’s the reason why it was my very worst date. If he was legitimitely sick from the food or for whatever reason, I definitely understood it. But drinking too much when we both knew it would make him sick was not a good choice. And to brag about how he could drink everybody under the table no more than 3 hours after the incident probably wasn’t a good choice either.

I did offer to pay for the date, several times. But I guess being a nice guy, and from the Midwest, he thought he was supposed to pay for the date. I always bring out money when going on dinner dates because I would never expect a guy to pay for the entire meal.

Oh, and the food was expensive because it was the Mexico restaurant in Disney World. We both worked as College Program-ers, so we could go in and out of the park as we pleased.

And I hope that cleared some stuff up, haha. Sorry if you think it’s dull!

Yeah I think Charly is a bit crazy – its not like this is ever going to be associated with the actual guy so why would he care?

Other than that people should remember that ‘my very worst date’ can be taken 2 ways – either a) the date i.e. guy or girl was bad or b) what actually happened on the date was bad.

In which case I think it is entirely fair for the submitter to say this is the worst date she has been on. I’d have to say my date having a massive pukefest wouldn’t make my night…

If she jokingly suggested that they go on a date –something along the lines of an idle, “Hey… maybe you and I should go out sometime”; and he then responded with something like, “Absofuckinlutely! Whattaya say we go to that expensive Mexican spot I’ve been meaning to try?”, it doesn’t mean that it was SHE who invited HIM out.

(That’s MY take on it, at least— assuming that my reading comprehension of Emily Post is sound!)

(Letitia Baldridge would question the reading comprehension of the LOT of ya!)
