I kinda think this was a cute (though thoroughly mortifying for the OP, no doubt) read.

And hey, from the sounds of it, this guy was pretty understanding. I can think of quite a few guys who would’ve simply run off without bothering to inform her family about her predicament and possibly bad-mouthed her afterwards. And sticking around through the whole mess and even afterwards? Sounds like a keeper to me.

this happened with my fiance!

i got really sick one day after work, we were on our way to the Pride Parade in the village, &my stomach started to hurt like crazy. we got to his house, his sister &brother in law drove me to the hospital, &they all stayed with me the whole night. he was by my side the whole time, &this was only like a week or so into the relationship.

my sister &her boyfriend ended up coming, &he had to call my mother and grandmother to let them know what was going on. all it did was make him realize how much he cares about me, because he was worried sick the whole time. he joked that he was getting ‘sympathy pains’ haha

This was a GREAT story. I was expecting the “bad” part to come, and we get a “happily together forever after” ending. Wasn’t anticipating that! Good luck!

In defense of Jason, I feel like most of the negative responders missed that the hypothetical reversed scenario with the guy sick was if the girl HAD SENT IT TO THIS SITE. He was not speaking of girls in general, but rather of his experience with gender differences in the stories sent in. And I tend to agree with him.

However, it wasn’t really needed in the first place. It was fairly irrelevant; indeed, it was potentially inflammatory! Most certainly it did not further the conversation.

In the end, the story is a happy one and made my day. Hooray for quality men who don’t judge based on a single experience.

I didn’t mean for my post to come off as sexist, but I also knew it wasn’t going to be a popular opinion with the ladies.

I guess I really just meant that based on stories I’ve read on this site, guys seem to be more forgiving over this type of thing than girls are. It’s not always the case, just something I noticed. If you’re a girl and you can see past something like this if you were otherwise enjoying the guy’s company, then that’s awesome. I don’t have a poor opinion of women…hell, all the people I’ve ever had sex with have been women, so who’s sexist now? XD

I don’t think it’s fair to assume that Jason was being sexist (although it was obvious that people were going to automatically going to get annoyed at his comment). Stories like this one, where unfortunate things happen, always seem to include a phrase like ‘I knew I’d never see him again’ or ‘I was amazed when he called me the next day…’ or whatever. So he perhaps inferred that to mean ‘if I were in his shoes, I wouldn’t have called me again’.
